Active Vision

Active Vision is a legally registered non-governmental association in Israel, was established in 2006 by a group of creators who believe in the power of the visual image to create l awareness and social change. ActiveVision seeks to promote a unique dimension of visual media, presenting the vision of those traditional perceived as passive within the documentary world. Through activities and workshops, ActiveVision facilitates the use of visual arts as a medium for participants to tell their stories in order to initiate positive change in their lives, and to create solidarity within their communities as well as with the broader society.

All projects are conducted within the communities themselves, which thus create personal and group documentation and a strong sense of participant and community ownership.

ActiveVision is a joint venture of visual and documentary media artists, experts, teachers, photojournalists. It brings to the front stage those who usually act on the passive side of the frame in our society, emphasizing human rights issues. ActiveVision was established in 2006 and operates in Israel. ActiveVision offers art/media workshops and courses, using photography, video, internet, music. The projects are co-developed with the participants. They are designed to strengthen the participants and their community. The work provides tools promoting an effective change in people's lives; it offers a new language of telling one's story; Opens a window to the surrounding society to present their case. We carry substantial experience, Our numerous projects to date cover a wide range of youth and adults from marginalized groups, refugees, asylum seekers, work immigrants, Israelis and Palestinians. Thanks to this experience and field work, Active Vision started a precise work on human rights defence, through the power of media, and in cooperation with other tools (advocacy, legal cases).
