In 10 villages of the West Bank a team of psychologist from Najah university in Nablus carries out and intervention on “Critical Incident Strees Debriefing under constant traumatic situation”.
Main target are community groups in villages subjected to collective repression (curfews, demonstration violently repressed with casualties).
The intervention tries to overcome the vision of psychological intervention as something related to mental problems typical of the local culture and it aims in one hand to support the creation of an internal safe place using the resources of the people and in the other hand to improve the path of removal of the psychological barriers that prevents people to be part of the struggle.
In the first year people from Nabi Saleh, Kufr Qaddum, Fasayel, Bil'in and Ni'hil were involved. The second year will focus on AlMasara, AlWalaja, South Hebron Hills area.
The activity is achieving great outcome firstly in the communities themselves, and then in scientific terms:
on the matter of fact, it seems that the people participating to the struggle and living in the villages in which the participation is massive, inclusive and horizontal, where most of the components of the community are involved,
the capacity of reaction to trauma is higher.
The ability to turn the experience from being victims to be actively involved in the struggle is underling the big role that resilience is playing in the Resistance itself.
The scientific research in this direction will continued soon publications will be enhance.
